Emily Jimenez

Global Learning Program: UCEAP

Bio

Hello everyone! My name is Emily Jimenez. I am a fourth-year biotechnology student affiliated with Crown College. I am a first-generation transfer student and I was born and raised in San Jose. In the summer of 2024, I studied abroad in South Korea through the UCEAP program and had an unforgettable experience there. After that trip I also visited Australia on my own to visit family. Studying abroad has always been on my bucket list for as long as I can remember and coming to UCSC gave me the opportunity to fulfill that dream. Traveling to another country opened a new perspective on the world around us and revealed an appreciation for culture, traditions, and hospitality. I would love to share my experience and provide assistance to each student who is curious about global learning and the wonderful programs we offer or share what it is like to be in a different country on your own.

Global Learning Program: UCSC Partner Program – Complutense

Bio

Hi! I’m Mia, a first-generation college student from San Francisco, majoring in Global & Community Health. Throughout my time at UCSC I’ve been fortunate enough to participate in two global learning experiences that have shaped my academic and personal growth. In Summer 2022, I was part of the first-ever UCSC Global Seminar to Ireland for the Writing 2 program. Then during Spring 2024, I studied abroad through a partner program with API at Universidad Complutense in Madrid, Spain. These experiences, along with traveling to Costa Rica, Mexico, the UK, and Portugal, have been truly life-changing, and I’m excited to share my journey with others. Outside of academics, I love exploring new cuisines (I’m definitely a foodie), staying active, and diving into my passion for fashion—especially shoes! Music is another huge love of mine, and I’ve had amazing concert experiences, including seeing Bad Bunny twice, attending the Sol Blume Festival in Sacramento, and even seeing J Balvin front row for just 35 euros in Madrid!

I’m passionate about helping other students like myself pursue these amazing global opportunities. If you’re curious about studying abroad, scholarships, or just want to talk about travel/music/fashion, I’d love to connect!
