How to Apply (UCEAP)

Important: Read all of the important steps below before beginning this process.

  1. Create an account in the Global Learning Portal.
  2. Confirm that you meet all of the Eligibility Requirements for the program by checking the Eligibility section of your program’s webpage.
  3. Confirm UCEAP Application Deadlines. Check to see if your program is still open before submitting the UCEAP Application.
    • Programs are open for application until filled or until the application deadline, whichever comes first. 
    • To increase your chance of receiving a spot in a UCEAP program, complete and submit your application as soon as possible after applications open
  4. Submit the UCEAP Application for your program in the UCEAP Portal by the deadline.
    • Applications for UCEAP Summer 2025 programs will open on November 14, 2024, at 9 a.m.
    • Applications for UCEAP, Fall, and Academic Year 2025-26 programs will open on November 20, 2024, at 9 a.m.
    • Applications for UCEAP Winter, Spring, and Calendar Year 2026 programs will open on April 15, 2025, at 9 a.m.

  5. Submit the UCEAP Nomination Form for your program in the Global Learning Portal by the deadline. This includes:
    • Submit an initial mini-application titled “UCEAP Nomination Form.”
    • Once you submit the mini-application, the following forms will become available. Your application is not complete until all of the SIX forms are submitted:
      • Bio/Demo Info (UCSC)
      • UCEAP | 1a. Eligibility and Academic Planning Form
        1. You are required to include a link to your completed Global Learning Approval Form (GLAF). Once your GLAF is signed by your advisors, you will include the link to the GLAF in the Eligibility and Academic Planning form. Note: The Global Learning Approval Form can take 1-2 weeks to complete depending on how quickly your advisors can provide your approval, so plan ahead!

    • There is a non-refundable $250 UCSC Global Learning Application Fee charged via your MyUCSC account. Do not submit the UCSC Global Learning Portal UCEAP Nomination Form after the program deadline. Late applications will be both declined and liable for the Non-Refundable UCSC Global Learning Application Fee.
  6. UCEAP applications are processed first come, first serve. As long as you meet the eligibility requirements, and the program is not full, you will be nominated to participate.
  7. If your application is accepted, you will receive instructions to begin the pre-departure process which, depending on the program, could include applying directly to the host university at a later date.
